We managed to kick off the tournament in style beating Kirkcaldy 36-19 in the first fixture of the day.
Tries from Ross Turner (2) Barry Turnbull (2) Ewan Elay and Chris Rhodes won us the game.

In our second fixture out slow start led to our only defeat of the day in the form of Strathmore, who went 19-0 up in the first half before Murrayfield could really get going. A second half comeback came with tries from Barry Turnbull (2) and Ewan Elay but another try for Strathmore made the tie finish 24-19 in their favour.

This loss placed us into the Plate semi's, pitted up against a North Berwick side who knocked us out of the Haddington 7s the following week and Wandies were desperate for revenge. That is exactly what they got, hammering North Berwick 29-5. Tries came from Chris Rhodes, Barry Turnbull, John Lee, Chris Rhodes and Duggie Liddle to secure our place in the plate final and get our revenge on North Berwick.

In the final Murrayfield faced a Perthshite side who had looked handy in their previous ties. However Murrayfield came out determined not to leave Kirkcaldy empty handed and put in an excellent performance. Tries coming from Chris Anderson, Ewan Elay and Barry Turnbull (2) secured Murrayfield a 26-5 win over Perthshire.

A great day had and some great rugby on played by Murrayfield on the day! Nice to get our first bit of silverware on the 7s circuit for the season. Out next tournament is in 2 weeks time as we go to Penicuik to defend our trophy from last year. Thanks to the supporters who came to Kirkcaldy to cheers on the boys and a massive thanks to Calum Gauld who came and helped out with the team.
