The club recently emailed the following information to its members. If you didn't receive that email, please contact Arnie Yule (arnieyule@yahoo.co.uk):
"This is a short update on the current position regarding the club’s present lease with the SRU and our future intentions.
As advised at the AGM last month the club is currently in advanced discussions with the SRU and other parties in relation to the proposals that were presented by Ewan Gillies and unanimously approved by those present.
Whilst it is certainly the case that the present lease will not be extended beyond the end of August 2017 the SRU, as landlords, are minded to allow the club to remain at its present site until these proposals come to fruition. On that basis the club will continue with its plans to move to Roseburn Park with a new clubhouse, as proposed. To that end discussions are ongoing not only with the SRU but also Edinburgh City Council, Murrayfield DAFS Cricket Club, Murrayfield Tennis Club and Sports Scotland, all of whom have also expressed an interest in partnering in the project.
In addition discussions are taking place with Friends of Roseburn and the Murrayfield Community Council to advise them of these plans and to take account of their views.
It is important that members are aware of the significant efforts being made to secure the club’s future in this fashion. The intention is to keep everyone advised of all relevant developments over the coming months.
It must also be emphasised that it is crucial that such discussions take place without any misinformation being disseminated into the wider public domain. A recent press article, which quoted an unnamed source, contained a number of factual inaccuracies which does not assist the club in these negotiations.
If any member is contacted by the press or any other media outlet please direct them to Roger Goldie, as the club’s designated press officer, in order that our response is both factually correct and up to date.
In the meantime if anyone has any other queries please contact either Bobby Frazer or Ewan Gillies, on the links below, who will be happy to respond.
