The club is very sad to report the death of Jim McDonaugh, on 9 April.
Jim has been involved with the club for many years. He lived opposite our pitches on Corstorphine Road, and became involved in the club when his grandson Kai joined our minis. Being Jim, he got involved with coaching, and ended up running our minis and Boys sections. Recently he has also been Vice President of the club. He was also instrumental in establishing our Walking Rugby sessions, in which he relaxed and enjoyed the weekly games and banter. He was a driving force within the Murrayfield Wanderers Trust (which funds a lot of our youth work) and enjoyed socialising at the Gents Dining Club.
Jim's reach and influence spread far into businesses and council departments, in Edinburgh and wider afield. (He had business interests in New Zealand!). He was also a leading light within Friends of Roseburn Park. The club will miss all the contacts and influence that Jim garnered. He tried hard to get us to see the financial implications of running the social activites that a rugby club such as Murrayfield Wanderers provides.
Our thoughts and prayers go to his partner Lillian and all his family.
The funeral is on Thursday 23 April, at 2pm in Warriston. If you can't attend but would like to view the serice remotely, you can do so at https://watch.obitus.com; username: lobo3190; password: 072069.
