Murrayfield Wanderers are very sad to report the death of a long-involved stalwart: Bob Kelly.

Bob was an ever-present enthusiast for the club and rugby. He had views on many rugby issues, and frequently made them known and suggested ways forward. When he was in hospital recently, it didn't stop him from phoning and sorting out club issues!

He was a keen fisherman and traveller to Orkney – he was already trying to sort out out how we would get to Orkney for our League game next season! He knew “everybody”, and if he didn't, he made it his business to say “hello” and introduce himself!

He had personally sponsored several club players. The high regard that the players held him in showed itself in the squad playing in Berwick (on 1 Apr) all wore thistles as a mark of their appreciation of his contribution.

He had been a member at Edinburgh Wanderers from the 80s. Recently he served on the committee.

The family have opted for a private, family funeral.

Thanks for being involved, Bob; you will be missed.
