Murrayfield Wanderers are very pleased to confirm the appointment of Marko Mladenovic as the club’s new Development Officer.

Marko was brought up in Cyprus, to where he moved from the Balkans at
a young age. He is an excellent rugby player who has played for and
captained the Cyprus Rugby team. Since coming to Scotland three years
ago he has played for Falkirk RFC and worked as a teaching assistant at
George Watson’s College which has included extensive rugby coaching
with their junior teams and primary pupils.

Marko says that he is "excited and looking forward to his employment
and the challenges and opportunities ahead."

This new appointment comes at the same time that the club are starting
on a new 3 year programme, in conjunction with the SRU, in our cluster
schools at Tynecastle and Wester Hailes, as well as their feeder primary
schools where our Assistant DO, Nathan Smith, is already active.
This programme will enable us to expand our participation in these
schools, with the intention of developing more young rugby players.

As always, our thanks go to the Murrayfield Wanderers Rugby Trust
Foundation who continue to provide such excellent support to the club
and the local community.

Unfortunately, Covid is currently inhibiting our efforts in our schools. But Marko has compensated by already holding After School sessions for both primary and secondary school kids (separately) at Roseburn. These are proving to be successful and numbers of new players have been very encouraging.

In parallel, and in line with Covid restrictions, our Mini section and Girls are training every
week at Roseburn on Sundays at noon and Wednesdays at 7pm respectively, with numbers attending increasing. Please come down whenever you can to support them.

The club wishes Marko, Nathan and all involved in our junior rugby set-up
all the best for the season.
